Pastoral Care & Organisation

Every student belongs to a Form Group. This is a class of 28-32 students who are a mixture of ability, former school etc., who are taught for some of their lessons together and who are under the special care of a Form Tutor. The Form Tutor is the main person responsible for most aspects of pastoral care for the individual students. This care will involve guidance, counselling, giving help, listening, following a pastoral programme and also being responsible for discipline. A Form Tutor will normally, though not always, stay with a group for Years 7-11 and will, therefore, know the students in the group really well. Tutors are lead by a Head of Year.

Heads of Year are responsible to the Assistant Headteacher for the overall care, progress and guidance of every member of their year. The Assistant Headteacher in turn is responsible to the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.

All members of staff are attached to a Year Team.

The Head of Year 7 will be responsible for transfer from, and liaison with feeder schools.

The Heads of Year 9 & 10 will be responsible for transfer to Key Stage 4.

The Head of Sixth Form and the Heads of Year 12 & 13 will have responsibility for all 16-19 students in the School.
