Aims & Objectives


The school aims to:

  • Provide a culture appropriate for future citizens of a modem democratic society.
  • Provide for the acquisition of knowledge through learning.
  • Provide for the development of high levels of work-related skills and good social skills.
  • Foster a collaborative attitude, enterprise, initiative and emphasise the need for tolerance, perseverance and humour.
  • In order to fulfill the above aims the school's objectives are:
  • To emphasise teaching and learning as the core function.
  • To foster a culture of high expectations of all students and refuse to accept underachievement.
  • To ensure that each student is known as an individual and to maintain a support structure so that each student achieves his or her potential, academically, physically and socially.
  • To provide a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum which is supported by appropriate assessment procedures.
  • To endeavour to produce the best possible examination results for students at all levels.
  • To provide at all times a happy, disciplined, organised and safe environment in which staff can teach and students learn.
  • To recruit and retain highly qualified, specialist and skilled staff and to provide for the development of all staff.
  • To demand the highest standards of behaviour at all times.
  • To promote care, concern, compassion and courtesy towards all other people at all times whether in school or outside in the community.
  • To develop a strong partnership with parents.
  • To develop an ethos which will promote the moral and spiritual development of all its students.
  • To teach a curriculum which will have relevance to the world of work, and to give vocational guidance and experience of work to help in careers preparation.
  • To promote close and effective links with local industry.
  • To promote entrance to Further and Higher Education.
  • To develop programmes for students with Additional Educational Needs.
  • To promote close and effective links with its feeder primary schools in order to facilitate the smooth transition of students from Year 6 into Year 7.
  • To ensure that all students have equal access to their entitlement under the National Curriculum.
  • To foster links with other schools in other countries, with a view to extending mental horizons as well as improving language skills.
  • To teach students to cherish the environment of the school, as well as general environmental issues.
  • To help students to develop a sense of personal worth, maturity and self-confidence.
  • To enrich the learning experiences of students, by offering the widest possible range of extra curricular activities to those of all abilities.
  • To foster a sense of belonging and a wish to contribute to the school as a community.
  • To review regularly, students' progress against targets.
  • Share a clarity of vision and goals with governors, staff, students and parents in order to develop effective leadership and teamwork at all levels.
